as a rule in terms of the visible light spectrum green is more visible to the human eye that red is.Same reason green laser pointers are far more visible than red especially in daylight. Pricing on a green laser modules that power these are higher than red simply due to the economics that far more red are made and sold hence cheaper although the last few years the price of green has come down substantially.

This basically sums it up. Battery life is the same between red and green reticle of the same model.
