Shot a beet

kinetic energy is absorbed a whole lot differently in a beet than in flesh due to molecular structure composition being totally different, shoot wood, the wounds are never the same as they are in ballistics gellatin or pig samples, comparing apples to oranges. That is why bullets are designed for different tasks, ie, ap wouldn't kill much as it simply passes through, some are bullets are designed to be effective after they travel through glass some before etc etc, this does demonstrate why bullet choice is so important though, and great shot by the way, both with your gun and camera.

Interesting test... I have yet to shoot a coyote with a 22 Hornet - however I have killed coyotes with a .223 Rem - using 45 grain TSX, 50 and 60 grain VMAX. All were shot within 100m and every single round penetrated completely through the coyote. I am hoping that the hornet will enter and explode inside the yote with no exit wound. The only round that I have personally seen "splash" as per the beet on the first page was the 45grain JHP Win Eco box my friend shoots. He still has a couple thousand rounds but after he is done those he is switching to a heavier bullet - he was seeing splashes at <100m ranges (~75m) the yotes were still dying but the entrance hole was a mess... definitely not fur friendly.
