So around here we have been inundated with crows and magpies. I was presented with a shot on a crow and i took it. My first shot i winged him. Thats when all hell broke loose. Pretty sure the crow yelled out

CAAAAWWWW IVE BEEN SHOT!!!!!!

So crows from all over started flying about caaawing like crazy. I didn't know there were that many around. :) So the crow just sat there ,i re cocked my pellet gun. He then jumped behind a large branch so i could just see parts of him. Took another shot and missed. So i waited until he came out again and he did. He jumped into plain sight as if he wanted to die. I dropped him. The crows went nuts again, but then quietened down.
So my question is...

Will those slimy bastards wage warefare or will they move on.
1 magpie dead
1 crow dead.

Sounds like it was a young one you got and the mother crow was the one that called for help.
I can guarantee you, that mother crow will never forget, or forgive you. If she sees you next year, she will immediately tie into you (verbaly).
I have crows mad at me nearly every year. Once I hit a crow with a pellet, didn't kill her, but obviously it hurt. Didn't seriously injure her, because in a few months she hatched out four young ones. She had a very dstinctive voice, that I could pick out anywhere. Not sure if it was from my pellet, or not.
She was around for at least four years after and she hated me like sin. My wife used to feed crows and one time the crow family was eating in our yard, while the wife was out talking with the neighbor man and wife. The young crows were eating and mother crow was sitting in a tree, watching. I showed up and she just about went ballistic. She swooped down and herded the young ones away, all the while squawking her head off.

Nice :) Well. Its quiet here now. :) Hopefully they all flock off.

Neighbour had a strawberry farm, my brothers and I all worked there from time to time. He used to make a habit of shooting 1 crow and hanging it on a fence post near the berry patch but where customers wouldn't notice. Idea being crows recognise their own dead and avoid the area.
