Nope not owned I just have never grasped the jack of all trades master of none theory...

That is why I shoot the true Master of the 375's in the best barrel length to give it the best possible long range performance and when it comes down to shooting in tight close in situations I switch to the Master of close cover rifle's the Marlin 1895GS in 45-70 loaded with the widest meplated, heaviest cast bullets available.

Yes sir a true King doesn't mess around with a Jack... :kickInTheNuts: :p

As you say....You need 2 rifles to do the job of one 375 Ruger....:slap:

A TRUE KING would be able to take the shot at 250 and then follow up into the pucker brush.;)


Actually, one of the things I didn't like about my 375 H&H was the 24" barrel, when seeking grizzlies in the north coast rainforest. Talk about tight!:runaway:





PS The 378 Weatherby has higher velocity and higher down range performance than the 375 RUM;)



My buddy got his grizzly done by a fellow in Williams Lake, very nice work. I'll find the name for you.
 
The bear is now safely in the hands of Steve @ Wildlife Designs thanks for the info...

The skull was unproffesionally measured in Prince George before I left I am told it is around 24"...
 
23" is the minimum for grizzly in the BC book. 24" is a very nice grizzly and will make BC record book at about #345 if you enter it.

Very nice bear, and I am sure that your rug will look fantastic!:)
 
BC= British Columbia, B&C is Boone & Crockett

The #1 Grizzly bear in BC is 29 2/16, but it is unknown who killed it. Ganders taxidermy has it.

B&C and BC both have a minimum of 23" for grizzly bear

B&C also makes a division between Alaskan coastal bears and interior bears. the Alaskan Brown bear minimum is 26.

I just got this email from Steve @ Wildlife Designs...

Hi Camp,

Your Grizzly has been fleshed out and finishing turning on the face, and is currently in fresh salt..

Your bear should come out close to 8' a very nice trophy indeed. You should definately be a happy camper on this one.

We will do the Inspection later this week with Fish and Wildlife and forward your documents to you after that.

So far I would totally agree...

He has estimated all of the work including finishing the skull should cost about $1500.00 I have a $500.00 deposit and it should be ready for pick up in 10 to 12 months.

They are a very busy shop and I was impressed with the work that they have on display.

Thats sounds like a very fair price.

I have been quoted (for black bear rug, mouth open)


$150 x nose to tail measurement
+
$350 for fleshing, turning of lips, eyes and pads, salting etc.
+
$100 to do the skull


and I didnt think that was to bad, knowing all the work that goes into a hide.
