Shot a Grizzly

Barnes makes the Expander...a one ounce solid copper slug....Federal did load it....not sure if they still do or not. I think it had six petals though.

The center part remained solid, and the sides split off into 'petals'. Not sure if it was the one you say or not.

This one looks like a giant hollow point. The petals peel back quite easily but stay attached for the most part.

Hmmmmm Maybe do some more research, I was never a shotgunner but this stuck in the memory cells!

I think that it was remmington who, some years ago, developed a solid copper slug with four 'petals' which broke of and spread apart. Anyone remember this?

Perhaps it was barnes?

If it acts as I describe, yes. I remember a photo of the slug in geletain. The 'petals' had broken off and had cut their own path away from the path of the main body. Quite dramatic!

Wow this is an active forum.. thx for the explanations foxer and CC and why not for the welcome.. And thx to anyone else who added to the conversation later i still have 11 pages to read.

On my way back up to northern BC I stopped off at Wildlife Designs the taxidermist where I left my grizzly hide and skull at.

If you guys remember without the teeth in the skull green scored/measured 23.81"...

Steve had put the front teeth in and measured the skull while I was there he measured it at 24 1/16" which makes the life time Boone & Crockett record book.

I'll pick the skull up on my way home and take it to get it offiially scored but it looks like it made the book.

That will put you right around 331 in the BC record book, a very nice grizzly!

To make BC book you need to hit 23
