Shot by my own shot....(why I always wear glasses)

There is an interesting display at the Fredericton Trap & Skeet Club. One of their members was refereeing a round last year and was hit by a spin-around - right in the centre of one lens. It hit his glasses hard enough to crack the lens in two directions. Had he not been wearing glasses, he would definitely have had severe eye damage. Any F'ton members here, feel free to post a pic!

This sort of thing can happen damn near anywhere. From 22's bouncing back off the target backstop to shooting in the field.

Many years back, a bunch of my cousins & I were plinking with pellet guns at the farm. One guy ran out of pellets in his pump'em'up Crossman rifle, so he thought he'de try BB's. They worked ok for awhile until one particular shot sounded quite different. Instead of hitting the target with the usual "THWACK", this one went "PWING----WHOOSH!"
Everyone stopped firing until we could figure out what the heck that was all about. Didn't take long to notice where that shot wound up, in the side window of one guy's Dogde Ramcharger, took out the back side window, completely! We found the BB in the plie of glass in the truck.

Considering dad was still in the RCMP at the time, there was a bit of explaining going on with that one! That truck was 15M behind us, scarrey indeed!

Trap may seem safer ... but I don't believe it .... especiallly with all those characters with various combinations of release triggers !

Really interesting shooting with one guy who shoots a
"Release/Release" Kreighoff Trap Gun at Sporting ... when
one of the pair is a no bird. I'm always sure to stay well behind
him.

Thanks for sharing. I will admit I never used eye protection when shooting and after reading this thread, I've decided to go shopping for some safety glasses. Any recommendations?
