I have never had an animal travel more than 20 yards maximum. WHen I shoot my muzzleloader I shoot 120 grain of powder and 300 grain sabot, that big a hole nothing really moves after. I have had quite a few drop on the spot with rifle as well.

I use a 300WM for all big game. Most have been bang-flops or a couple steps. The only instance that springs to mind that wasn't the case was a caribou that ran maybe 40yards with no lungs.

Most of the moose/deer I've shot have been through the boiler room. One was through the head - bang flop. One was through the spine - bang flop.

All the boiler room shot critters have folded in less than 50 feet.

Bears have been all over the map. Some have folded when shot through the heart and/or lungs and some have taken off (either at me or away) like they were never hit and have gone between 100 feet and 150 yards with no functioning heart and/or lungs.

Depends on the rifle for me... most I've shot with the smaller rounds like the 6.5mm seem to bang flop. The ones that I've shot with the 338win usually bugger off, less than 100m, before they fall. Seems like a bullet construction related thing to me.
