On vacation in Clearwater, Florida and shot full auto today at Knight Shooting Sports. Great experience. Cost me $127 for 100 rounds of 9mm for a Glock 26 and full auto Uzi and 20 rounds of 7.62x39 for a semi ak47. First time i've fired full auto and it was something every shooter has to try at least once. The uzi was very controlable, the glock way too small and the AK was the ultimate rifle. I've had many black rifle's and the AK blew them all away. The owner is apparently a Canadian who joined the IDF and eventually settled in Florida. Check out their website at knightshooting.com

I was there in Jan and shot the MP5 SD. I would go back in a heart beat, expensive though.
Did I miss something? What "illegal discussion" occurred in this thread? Shooting full auto is legal in Florida or it wouldn't be happening at a range with a public website. As the OP said that in his opinion "Every shooter should try full auto at least once", where it is legal to do so, if that is in the USA then sobeit. Again, did I miss something, perhaps it was deleted before I got here?
A silly guy saying silly things............. IT was a guy who went to a place where it's legal and got ot play with toys we will never get to play with, I would pay that much to get to shoot a full auto....I have enough to go play ...but the plane fare would kill right now. good on ya for getting that experience.

Anyone know what the laws are like in Oklahoma?
I have to run down there on Monday and I would love to shoot some FA in my free time.
If at all possible I mean.
(I know it's one of the few states where it is REALLY easy to get you concealed.... So Im hoping it is the same for FA)

Thanks, I thought I was loosing my mind. I kept reading the two posts before mine over and over to see what I had missed.
It is the ultimate rifle I guess for the reason that it is unobtanium by us lowly civilian law abiding citizens. I've always regretted not getting one when I had the chance way back when it was legal. It's a grass is always greener thing I guess...

When you have to pay for the ammo (ouch) it isn't as fun. If full auto were allowed in Canada, I would not be interested due to the high cost. At 600+ rounds per minute and an average cost of .25 cents a round... one minute would cost you $150. You can play around with the math, but in the end any way you slice it... it's damn expensive!
The Gun Store in Vegas is really easy to spend money at. Every time I've gone to Vegas, I've gone there. Their selection of weapons is quite good and shooting full auto is addictive. Rounds are gone very quickly!
I've shot the M16 and MP5 there, I was looking at the AK but I had already spent over $300.

ya I got to try a 9mm uzi about 20yrs ago in arizona at bear arms. was very cool to try. back then that gun had an $800.00 price tag on it to own, very cheap, they also had a big machine gun on a tri pod for $4000.00. would be great for home defence, ringing in the new year, or spelling your name on a wall. lol

Best place in the US to shoot full-auto I've found is the Scottsdale Gun Club, because they have belt-fed MGs and assault rifles, that place in Las Vegas only has SMGs (or at least they did last time I went, I see they have a SAW now).
I can't remember any other rental range I've been to that had belt-fed guns. The only thing you will get through faster than ammo is money, bring LOTS.
Unfortunately they'll only let you shoot paper targets at around seven yards, iirc, which does somewhat take the fun out of it. Their store is also suitably awesome.

It's more a case of finding a dealer who rents them out. California, Illinois, New York, Washington and a few others ban MGs and getting State dealer licenses for them is pretty hard but anywhere in the southern US (except California) you just need to find someone who rents them.
Having spoken to people who run these places in the past, the hardest part of it is getting insurance that covers renting MGs. I knew a guy in Georgia who ran a rental range, he got his insurance from Lloyd's, eventually he just couldn't make it pay and gave it up.
