Well let me tell ya! I'm very pleased/surprised at my new Browning X-Bolt .270Stainless Stalker I shot it in with Federal Premium 130 grain Sierra Game kings. I don't know if I lucked out in choosing this ammo configuration but the gun sure likes them. I sighted it in to print 2" high at 100 meters -- put a new target up and the next three went into the same hole -- the hole just got a little bigger. Never had a gun shoot this good out of the box. I thought my 84M Kimber 7mm-08 was a good shooter but this one is something else.
Cheers.

Congrats on a great shooter. Quick question: Do you find that when chambering a round there is an extra 'push' needed before the bolt will rotate down? Like you need to depress a spring but only about a millimeter or less.
I have an x-bolt in 7wsm, and that's what I find. Not sure if its just mine, or common to all.

Cool, sounds like your ready for the hunt!

I find my wsm's are like that...

Nope must be yours --no extra push required.

So I decided it must just be the plunger ejector spring that I feel getting compressed. I compared how it feels with my 2 remingtons and my tikka. They all use a plunger style ejector as well. The Remington SPS I could hardly feel it. The Tikka T3 the same thing. But with my Remington Mtn rifle I could notice it a bit more.
I think with the 3 lug x-bolt system requiring a bit more effort to cam [compared to 2 lug systems of the other ones mentioned] coupled with a stiff ejector spring it just feels stiffer than I'm used to when chambering a round. I didn't get to test that out at the store. They don't like you to chambered live ammo in the store. Anyways, I'm probably just being extra picky.
Blargon, maybe the WSM's require stiffer springs to eject for some reason? Thanks for your comment.
'Nuff 'bout that.
Grouser, you should post a pic of your 1 hole group! It's sweet to find a load that groups well so easily. Sounds like you've got a winner. Best group I've had with my x-bolt is 3 shots touching, using SST bullets in handloads. I was pretty happy about that.
