Shot making

Very very nice system. Everything is contained into that large bottom plastic tray so no messing around.
Now I couldn't see where exactly is the spot where the coolant is pumped back in the cooling tank. It is through the back wall or where exactly?

It gets pumped back into the the cooling tank through the middle of the back. I welded a nipple on and connected the hose. In my water testing, the flow was causing some turbulence in the surface of the tank so I put a diffuser on the wall of the tank on the inside. It is a 6" piece of angle iron welded horizontal over the opening and a couple pieces of flat bar, one each end, to deflect the coolant to the outer edges of the tank. Photo bucket is down right now, Ill post a pic as soon as its back up.

I have wanted one of these for some time...everybody who has bought/made one of these please keep posting until I convince myself I NEED one.

If you shoot enough, it will pay for itself. I shot close to 5000 rounds of 12ga last season and I figure at $50.00 + per bag of shot IF I can find it, I will recoup my investment part way through next season.

I did a larger run of shot today, I'm not sure how many pounds. I tried mixing wheel weights with range scrap 50-50 and results were decent. The shot is not quite as round as pure wheel weight but I think it will do for shooting clays. I will have to pattern both and see if there is any difference with the 50-50 blend as it will be lower BHN.

I also added a silicone funnel to the down spout on the tank to eliminate a splashing issue I had when the coolant and shot were entering the strainer. Works 100%.

Another short video with the funnel added and a pic of the shot I made in about 3hrs.

COWW is known to be the best alloy for making shot. Beside the fact that has the right amount of lead/antimony/tin it has another very important component that shot needs. And I'm talking about arsenic. Without going into deep metallurgical philosophy, COWW is the best alloy for making shot. Period.
But as overunder725 said, decent shot for free is better than perfect shot at 50$/bag. Is that a funnel or a plunger?

I'm really interested in your pattern test. If you don't mind please share the test as I'm also curious. I admit I didn't shared mine but I promise I will for the next time.
Thanx again for sharing.
