So I finally took my stainless Cz out to the range but only had time to put a box thru it. There were no failures to eject or feed but I had a couple of other issues;

after the first shot the gun was slightly out of battery. First I thought maybe the fired case got stuck but it was just the fresh round didn't chamber (slide was sticking out about 1/4") I couldn't rack it back with my hand (CZ's low profile slide didn't help) - I had to push the slide into a table to get the slide to retract.

I heard CZ don't deepthroating well :p but I didn't think the OAL was that long. Same ammo (relaods, 124gr RN plated) works like a charm in my 92FS and my ex. M&P9 never complained either.

Also the gun went click instead of bang a couple of times. Now I just just pulled the trigger again and it went off so I don't know if there was a dent on a primer or not. I'm not sure if the gun was slightly out of battery or if it was indeed a light strike. I'll check the ammo next time if that happens.

Accuracy was good! so I'm willing to tailor the OAL just for the gun. Hope it's going to fix it :)

Anyone else here had/have that problem? what's the max OAL ammo I should be using with 124gr RN bullets?

I've loaded Bullet Barn 124 gr RN to OAL 1.115 with no feeding problems in my CZ 85 C. You might want to to the following to ensure feeding in you r gun:

1. Remove Barrel
2. Measure the length of a bullet
3. Drop the bullet into the chamber and measure from the base of the bullet to the top of the barrel hood where the case normally sits flush.
4. Add the two measurments then back off a few thousanths and you should have the maximum OAL for a cartridge using that bullet in that gun.

Take Care

I'll measure the OAL of the ammo tonight. Normally I remove the barrel and just drop in the round. If it sits high or doesn't fall out freely when I ti it over I'll take that round and seat the bullet a little deeper, then try it again. till I can tell it fits right

The failure to fire thing is most likely related to it being a hair out of battery and will away when the ammo issue is cleared up.

Not sure how tight CZ chambers tend to be but I've seen people using less than stellar bullets get the odd one that was oversize and would swell the cases to the point that they wouldn't chamber freely. Would be the next thing to check after OAL.

I keep the OAL at 1.150 with both 115 gr and 124 gr. fmj's. Works great in my CZ 75B and Beretta M9. Great accuracy, Zero problems.

Got a chance to I measure the ammo last nigh. It was only 1.143" (the bullet used is AIM btw). When I took the barrel with the round in the chamber and inserted it in the slide I could tell right of the bet that it's a bit out of battery.... I proceeded lowering the seating die a couple turns and 'slide testing' same way after. One that finally worked was 1.113" and I know bullet was STILL touching the rifling because once I drop the round in and tip it over it wouldn't fall out! I didn't try a shorter OAL because the load I was using required a longer OAL... I'm using PowerPistol btw and also have some N350 on hand but I'm not sure if I either will let me get away with just 1.100" I know PP (my favorite powder) won't so that kinda sucks...

All depends on the profile of the bullets.

I load 124 grain AIMS at 1.1000 and 147 grain AIMS at 1.095 and have Zero issues feeding my 75b.

It'll depend on the bullet profile too, RN can be loaded longer. I load Frontier 124gr FP at 1.08" to have reliable feeding and chambering.

All the CZ 9mm's I've owned have been good shooters. Especially with my own 9mm reloads.
