Shot my first Boar

They are over in Manitoba. In some areas you don't even need to hunt them in season or with a tag, I could have head wrong so please correct me manitoba hunters if it's otherwise.

you guys say that they're dangerous, so I guess that they charge? I heard that boars try and gouge your eyes out, sounds rediculous but is there any merit to that?
They do that so they can have their way with you. They are sadistic evil oinkers.
Any advice on if a boar charges and you don't have a gun?
Be prepared to have your eyes gouged out.:D

There is an article in todays Globe and Mail about feral boars in Saskatchewan. The farmer with the writer got charged after he tried to kill one with a 223, 4 hits later it dropped at his feet.

Yep, Wild Boar can be shot anytime in Manitoba....but you have to find them first. I haven't heard of anyone actually getting one in Manitoba yet but someone must have.

By the way tangospike99, I grew up on a farm just outside Grande Prairie. It's a great place to live if you love the outdoors! Used to go Moose and Elk hunting on the Smokey and Wapitii. Spent a lot of time around Two Lakes but that was before it got turned into a wilderness park.

Man!! Where did you find a Boar??

I'm in BC and have wanted to boar hunt for a long time but i thought they were a myth

Man I would love to hunt boar is there any place in Alberta where you can hunt them? And are they considered big game where you are forced to use 6mm or larger caliber?

I can't help but ask, but what were you hoping to use to shoot a mean assed, 260 lbs, critter with thick skin and tusks 6 inches long that has a tendency to charge and mutilate hunters.:D

That is awesome! I have been wanting to go up north to shoot some boars myself. Any good spots? Where did you find land to hunt on? Any advice would be appreciated.

I think he said it was a farmed hunt, but I too would like to head north and make some bacon from a wild (ie: not farmed) boar.

They have recently been classed as a pest in Alberta, and can be killed without a license.

What do you think - 45/70 or .300WM?
