I am use to my SKS the way it bucks and is basically a piece of crap compared to the svt-40. When you shot it it stays on target after the shot and only gives a little kick due to the large muzzle brake. I am very pleased with it and it is very accurate. It's a tree shaker. I take a shot at a tree truck and it drops all the snow off the branches. It's loud and fun to shoot. It functions perfectly and looks brand new. It's a 1941 but seems like it was made yesterday. I think I have found my rifle of choice and it looks bad ass too.

I really like my SVT40 as well, great guns!

However, I will counter your sks being a piece of junk... The sks is a great rifle in it's own accord! Where else can you get into the shooting sports with a ~ $150 rifle?

My Russian SKS, my Chinese SKS & my SVT40 are ALL fun fun fun!!!

Cheers
Jay

SVT40 is a must have. They shoot well, bulk rounds are inexpensive, and its cool to shoot. Its louder than hell and there is a bit of a learning curve to get the spring in and out quickly. I've taken mine hunting several times and don't mind the weight, and don't find the recoil to be any more than average. Places like Westrifle have extra full length mags for a good price, but if you like to hunt with it, try to get one of the "cut down" magazines that doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

My SVT40 is light years better than my SKS. My SVT40 is the favorite milsurp I shoot, dam fun , super accurate, a pleasure to shoot ! And I can share ammo with my two Mosins, you can't beat that !!

When I first shot mine I was amazed at the accuracy I could get out of irons. I'm used to scoping, and therefore having to sight in. The SVT40s irons were still true more than 70 years later. Glad to hear yours is the same.
Cheers, Al

Had mine out the other day and no doubt its a wicked accurate and super fun gun to shoot. Feed it the same reloads that my Mosin loves except I use surplus cases with the bullets and powder removed(reload with the same powder just adjust quantity and seat my own bullet)instead of brass and she loves em too. Here's to many more range trips and lots of fun with this awesome gun.

my svt-40 is defiantly my favorite gun hands down. I still remember the first day I shot it, there sutch a sweat heart of a gun, and now with the dragunov stocks and pos-p scope it sure throws everyone at the range for a loop

I have one to and I get a lot of looks at the range - just don't use soft point ammo.
I had one misfire as these soft points didn't feed well.
Please try to avoid shooting trees I might be cutting them down some day.
Bullets in trees can and do cause terrible accidents in sawmills.
Just sayin'

Where did you get the Dragunov stock?

That's BS I own a sawmill and the saws cut through bullets like butter. The only thing that buggers up a sawmill is large steel spikes. Smaller nails are not a problem either. The boards come out with lead spots on them they look kinda cool.

yea but some of that communist milsurp ammo is steel cored. that might cause havoc with the sawmill...

But that aside, I have wanted one of these for a while too. damn, I want too many different ones... K98, SVT, M1, etc....

You guys shooting surplus? I have some slightly heavier MFS stuff but it doesn't shoot anywhere CLOSE to the surplus stuff so having a fast and handy sight elevator is useless with the wrong ammo :(
