ok i just restored a couple of sporter norwegian krag rifles, 6.5mm cal.
1 needed a new barrel. its original was shot out / bullet boat tailed all the time.
i am into muzzleloaders, an read that when worn out, the trapper or ?? would get a gun smith to FRESH his barrel, that is bore it an re-rifle it to the next larger calibre.............like 45 to 50, or 50 cal restored to 54, ect.
just curios , can such a thing ( freshing )be done in the modern gun calibres? if yes would it be cost effective?
i know many military 7mm mausers were changed to 7.62 , or 30-06 but can a worn out barrel as i describe, be saved?
just curios..........not planning to do it.
