BR, You silly bastard.:runaway: :)

As I said I hunt bears with dogs. If I had a bear run twenty yards it could go all wrong in a hurry. So head shots work well for me.

2350km road trip through the canadian rockies. saw some nice Elk I would like to see head shot at 900m with a .243win. think I can borrow captain deadly for a little while? if he's not to busy coaching bambam? :D

Sure, bears die pretty good when shot in the head, but it is a low percentage shot, especially as you add longer ranges.

The head is an active target- it moves much more than the chest vitals.

I woudl take a head shot if I had to- in that it was poking it's head in my tent or coming rigth for me at close range, but shooting them in the shoulder as I described earlier tends to cripple them so they can't run off just as well as a head shot.

And youhvae ahigher margin for error, and you dont' ruin the skull, which most bear hutners liek to keep as a trophy.

Yeah... I hear ya... my partner does nuisance bear work for the MNR. Shootin bears outa trees in some yumpties front yard ain't my cup of tea.
I have seen some hairy #### go down but I have not got the cohona's to do what he does.

Firearm = shoulders on bear. Bow = double lung, best being 1/4 away IMHO. See the line to the opposite shoulder and drive it home. On a broadside shot wait for the near leg to clear forward with the string and sticks.
