Ok so you want to be Technical ! The HEART is both a muscle and organ ! It is the Central ORGAN of the circulatory system .Heart is a muscle
Never agreed with the bottom left as a zero. I've had a couple of cleen kills at that angle. In just in front of the gut bag, thought the front of the lung, out just in front of the right leg. But it is from Sweden so maybe 6.5x55 can't cut itAlways thought this was good introduction to shot placement….

Simplified version is line up vertical crosshairs to mid point between the front legs, come up 1/3-1/2 way up the chest and pull the trigger. Works quartering to, or away, straight facing. Would even work on the Texas heart shot if you can comfortable shoot through 7-8 feet of moose. Not saying that last one is a great, or even good idea but the alignment would still work.Always thought this was good introduction to shot placement….

I carry a tall “trigger stick”. It’s a portable rest for us hunting where there are no trees to lean against to steady oneself. The one I have is a decent height and is a monopod. Useful as a walking stick as well. Didn’t use it on my elk hunt as a fence post was handy. Definitely helps one be a bit steadier for an ethical shot.Lots of great advice/opinions in here so far. You guys must all be a lot better shots than I am. I mean, off the bench I don't have any problem with keeping them MOA with my rifle, but out in the field, unsupported (or at best using a tree branch) I don't know if I can be that selective at 200 yards. I aim for the heart/lung area and that's what I generally hit. But to say that I'm going to put it in the heart, or 2" above the heart, or 3" behind the heart....really?
Great question... In truth the heart and or lung shot is not as quick as a nervous system shock shot. Many dedicated hunters shoot the shoulder blade. The central nervous system is right there. In my Humble Opinion that's the real shot to take particularly for a right hander on a right facing critter. Just my opinion though. cheersHey guys. Kinda getting into this later in life ( I’m 55). This could apply to any kind of game I guess. All the YouTube stuff on shot placement seems to say aim for the heart and lungs. Out of curiosity, does anyone try to avoid the heart with the intention of eating it? I’ve never seen this mentioned in either a video or a comment section.
