A new barrel could fit your bill. Seen 18.5" express barrels for 80$ in the exchange recently.

Those Cylinder choked, short slug barrels are uselss for bird hunting... You'd be better off shooting marbles from a slingshot.

not everyone is in love with with the poor performance of steel, nor is everyone interested in rock-bottom prices as the only goal.

Bilozir has both Nice Shot and Hevi Shot for reloading. YES IT IS EXPENSIVE. Don't even bother to complain. You want it, buy it. You don't, buy steel.

Depleted uranium shot shells; now why didn't anyone tell me that you could get those, those'r real shells! Seriously though guys, if you wanted to use steel shot for ducks and geese, would you use the same size shot as you would in lead. Now that I've bought a shotgun I may want to try my hand at migratory birds again.

Cabin Fever

Because it's Winter and we're playing inside I'm going to go off on a tangent and reflect on how I just learned (OK, not too slow, me) it's fine to shoot steel shot through Ithaca M37 pump barrels choked no more than mod. I have three of these things, anyone need a nice Ithaca pump??

Makes me think an 870 choked IC or Mod would be no problem with steel.

Steel has less energy so we go one size bigger than what was used in lead shot. Steel also stays more clumped so one size more open choke than used for lead also seems about right.
