Shot Shell Carry

What problem takes more than the rounds you have in and on the gun itself?

The one where that's not enough, and in a training context so you don't have to keep going back to your range bag for more ammo nearly as much.

There are better options for access speed, if you can reload fast enough for that to be a bottleneck, but the Olongapo bag gives you "volume" in a compact format as well as reasonable access speed.

Daves has a breachers vest (Tactical Tailor) that holds 24 on one side and has 3 double AR pouches on the other. They also sell SOE Gear's 16 round insert for mag pouches, that gives you 72 rounds. Clean, tight and useable.

The inserts are useable in any double M4 pouch, so if you're already running a rig with multiple pouches (Warloard or something) you could just use the inserts and keep your current rig. This was as much capacity as I could find - because there's no such thing as too much ammo.

This is the setup that I use. It's a 5.11 rig with 5.11 double m4 mag pouch. I have an osoe 16 round shell carrier in each. They are held in with para cord, and I find it works good.

I have the same pouches, do the shell carriers swing around much when you pull them out?

They do swing around, they are only held at the bottom of the shell carrier thru the drain eyelet in the pouch. I have the cord shortened to the point that it folds over the front of the pouch which seems to help with it swinging around.

I just use two bandoleers, one over each shoulder. Between the two its 96 shells, I keep one all slugs and the other all buckshot. Plus another 12 in the side sattles on the gun. Reloading from the bandoleer is fairly quick.

Hm Id like to find the SOE pals velcro carrier. The velcro seems like it would keep the shells firmly in place so Im not having to chase it around to grab shells off it. Id rather have all my ammo like that than in shell carriers on the gun. They just add weight and bulk that I dont like.

I'm considering getting the belt loop setup from Hoffners training academy, looks fast and handy, at least for single loading, while not being too bulky or expensive. I think it would go well with my Olongapo grab and go bag or whatever other system I might try in the future.

Wow... those 12gauge pouches are awesome. Id love to have a chest rig in black with 2 of those on one side and 2 double AK pouches on the other for my VZ. That would be the perfect setup for me
