SHOT SHOW 2010 - EMA Tactical (ex-CAA) Glock Carbine Kit

I read everything on the CAATactical site. A new video and many PDF files. There is one PDF file that looks like it's been translated only on page six. If you read page six it says you can put a sixteen inch barrel on it. Just add www.......

Not sure what's up with the PDF file but this is the email I received today after asking caatactical if I can use my G17 with an extended barrel....

Thank you very much for coming back to me.
Now that we are able to see the picture it is much clearer.
Unfortunately the Roni cannot be used with a long barrel such as this or with a longer one for that matter.
Please do not hesitate to contact us for more information if needed.

From what I could gather from the translation (and the obvious image), they removed the barrel shroud to accommodate a suppressor. They talk about longer barrels but it's not clear whether a modified shroud is required. I'd be inclined to follow the manufacturer's guidelines (it's possible that there are operational or other issues in removing the shroud).

I agree.

If I can get good groups at 50m I'll be happy. There was a guy at the Orono Hunt/Fish Club getting 6 inch groups at 100m with the stock G17 barrel. If I can accomplish that I will be very happy. The three gun I shot in Kingston recently had distances of no more that 25-30m for the carbine portions. Seems like the Roni would be perfect for these matches.

Put another 100 rimfire rounds through the Roni with the AA .22lr conversion kit.

Not a single hiccup using (bleech!) Remington Goldens.

Got a XPS-3 style holosight on it now and it is a little laser beam especially with the 9mm. Seems to hold zero.

A pic... with a 7.5" AR to compare...

Yes. Damn those evil clones they can be so tempting. 20 aimpoint micro style red dots or one real acog.

I'm just still trying to figure out what I like before I sell my kidneys to get the real deal.

Didn't get the chance to get it to the outdoor range yet but just got back from the indoor club. It only goes out 25m. Shot about 120 rounds slowly adjusting my red dot. Last mag was all in a pretty tight 3 inch group with most shots touching each other. I guess my reloads are ok. :) I could never do that with just the pistol.

So did anyone ever break out a dremel, a can of axle grease and a shoe horn to try and shove a 10 mm Model 29 in one of these?

What would be the limiting factor and any thoughts on if it could it be made to work?

Well my 16 year old son and I tried this out at TSE in calgary on our holiday in the glock 22 .40 caliber. At 7 and 10 meters it was one ragged hole. I love it as does my son, first time ever shooting anything. It is now a future must have for a range toy. I love it and look forward to my future time with it. My boy tells me I am not allowed to go to the range without him now too. PROPS TO TSE!!!!

What optic/sights did they have on it?

I've put an Aimpoint T-1 Micro (clone) on it and for the 25-50m I use it at I find it works really well.... Since there is next to no recoil the knock off holds zero and I haven't had a problem with the optic failing.

They had a cheap bushnell red dot on it and it was spot on so with a nicer optic that I like it would be astounding. I was happy with the acuracy in .40 but I would like to see it in 9mm or 10mm or .45 acp. But now I am just getting greedy!!!!! ;)

If anyone was worried about taking the dremel to the Roni cocking piece because their rear sight was too big, they sell extra cocking pieces on the the Questar site for 9.99.

I hate to be 'that guy' but stuff like this just speaks to me. Isn't that T-1 on backwards.

CAA should really look at these things before they pay the ad people... at least the mags weren't loaded backwards this time:D
