SHOT SHOW 2012 - 1911s Colt, Browning, Nighthawk and Remington

Beautiful gun, but I think I'm gonna wait until a company slaps "zombie" on the side of a 1911 and pay double what I should because I am 12 years old and need very single gun or part that says "zombie" on it.

i would get one of those too...i already have the ammo

sparhawk I hope you do have Nighthawk and Wilson Combat photos too! Man the Sig 1911's are not bad. That Fastback Carry Nightmare is dope.... only if it had some bottom rails. Thanks for pics!

Got the new Nighthawk Costa line, will post them shortly. WC is a no show unfortunately.

I like the 5" Wiley Clapp model. It has modern ergonomic refinements like the beavertail and Novak sights, but with traditional slide serrations and rollmark. Personally, I would choose a slightly higher profile ambi safety, but that is easy to fix.

Why? Skeletonizing is unnecessary with aluminum triggers. It was originally used with heavier steel triggers to lighten them to prevent doubling.

I agree it serves no additional functional purpose but it looks better, that's why.

I guess that would be more consistent with SIG's current emphasis on flashy cosmetics over building quality firearms.

To each their own. Personally, If I have to choose between two guns of the same reliability and one looks way cooler than the other, I am going to take the cool looking one.

This is not a knock on Sig 1911s. I can appreciate that they are very innovative with their designs. In fact, I have had one for quite some time and I have nothing but good things to say about it.

Any formal word from Ruger on what's is going on with the SR-1911?

The fellow I spoke to didn't have anything real insightful to say.

What I did notice, however, is that ruger is absolutely definitely not hyping their 1911 in their SHOT booth as much as they are their sr-9, scout rifle, sr-556, and others.

They had a wall dedicated to all of the other firearms noted above, but literally only one (1) SR1911 on display, and it was hiding amongst all their other less popular pistols.

No posters, no fanfare, no big shiny "look at me, I'm ruger's first 1911 ever!" displays.

I thought it quite odd myself.

I kinda like the 1911R1S, might be a good start for a build, exept for the 80 series stuff...

It is made by GSG. Still a great quality little gun, but the GSG version runs a good $50 cheaper than the Sig.

I've been looking at the GSG/Sig .22 1911 for a while but was kind of put off by all the complaints about the finish, I guess this version comes in the Nitron which solves my problem. I'd have no problem paying the extra $100 for the Sig with a decent finish!

I wonder when we'll start to see these?

Perhaps they don't want to draw attention to the reported issues they are having with this gun.

Thanks for the update!!!

There are no "reported issues" with the SR1911 other than the challange that Ruger is having in keeping up with the incredible demand for this gun. The only reference to any "issues" I have ever seen was in one thread here on CGN and that's it. These guns have been selling like hotcakes for the past year in the US and I have never seen a negative word printed about an SR1911. :)

The lack of fanfare may be due to the fact that this gun was actually rolled out at last year's SHOT show, combines with the fact that, as mentioned, Ruger is already running at max capacity trying to fill orders for this gun...

The SR1911 was not at SHOT last year (at least I did not see it when I was at the Ruger booth - it could have been hiding, but it definitely wasn't hyped), and it was not in any of the 2011 Ruger product catalogs / litrature that I picked up last year either.
