The benefits of bungee slings have been known to carbine shooters for a while. Now, the precision rifle crowd is also starting to see benefits in using them. Not only do they buffer the weight of heavy boltguns when carrying them, they can also add a tremendous amount of stability when shooting. Rifles Only and Armageddon Gear have both come out with bungee slings that are designed with precision rifles in mind. Both slings feature an arm loop that can be cinched tightly to prevent it from slipping down the arm and both slings also allow the user to adjust the tension of the sling while in shooting positions. Traditional slings require the user to make adjustments to the sling prior to getting into position. Each also has a buckle that allows the user to escape from the sling in a hurry.
Both slings have been well received by the tactical shooting community. Accuracy International is now including the Armageddon sling in their AW weapon system package. The picture of it was taken in their booth. I tried the slings on rifles at the show and I can say that the bungee makes a noticeable difference in stabilizing the rifle in off hand positions and over barricades.
