Is it just me or are there a lot less new black guns reported during the 2017 SHOT vs 2016?
If anyone know of new black guns at SHOT 2017 but not well publicized, can you please share some info?

There is tons there. I just think it's who's reporting it. Most the stuff that's reported comes down to what the person is interested in.

There's a whole lot less SHOT 2017 reporting overall. Nothing on optics, gadgets etc. Heck, not even a SHOT ladies thread...

Check out SHOT 2016/2015 etc threads. There are 2 pages worth of threads. 2017 is just 29 threads.

Aside from the Skeli X11 rifle and the Crye Six12 shotgun, there was very little in the way of new and/or innovative firearms on display at SHOT 17. The way I saw it, this SHOT Show was all about copycat 9mm AR carbines and .308 rifles. That, and a lot of "new" stuff trotted out for a second year....

Only a spattering of videos came out because:
1) Youtubers are tired of just being free advertising for a product they haven't been able to test
2) There was almost nothing of note

CZ-805 Bren 2... which is what the Bren 1 was supposed to be until someone forget they were making receivers out of aluminum instead of polymer, and now they won't be available to the US market for a few years. Bit of a joke.
Springfield Saint tuned out not to be the Croatian VHS2 but yet another ho-hum Budget AR15
MDR continues to be in the "maybe one day" category

They make AUGs in white now, not that it matters to us.
The Steyr "limited runs" of pistols we heard murmurings about were not L357s, but M and Ls with OD Frames. I love the Steyr pistols but I couldn't bring myself to care.

Oh and you can buy an SP1 for $2500, thanks Colt! Enjoy your bankruptcy.

Really dull shot show, only entertaining bit was watching InRange guys drag sales reps over the coals. Maybe next year.

I think it is just that Shot Show is returning to being just another industry trade show. There are tons of industry trade shows happening that nobody really hears or cares about unless you are directly involved in business related to the particular industry. Shot Show really took off in 2004 after the invasion of Iraq when all the private military contractors were getting contracts and had to gear up. The invasion really gave birth to the whole "tactical" industry, and new stuff was being exhibited and promoted at the Shot Show. Blackwater etc. all had booths with free beer and recruiting whoever had military and law enforcement experience. Shot Show lowered the entry requirements. Youtube was just taking off with all new reporting etc. Now with Iraq war over, Youtube not such a novelty, the hype has died down considerably. That is how I see it.

So at least I'm not going crazy for yawning and nodding off. And I did not mean CGN reports alone but all the YouTube and blogs I have seen as well.

I can only get so excited about another AR or pistol that i refuse to own and register. The only black guns i'm interested in are ones that have the potential of being NR. With there being very few of those this year, and there not seeming to be anything earth shattering coming from the hunting or tactical gear side of things, the vast majority of Shotshow coverage got a big "Meh" out of me this year.

The best part of shot show " the year of the ACR "

LMFAO

Acr has been a late bloomer for sure, but it sounds like its finally starting to take off. Thats good news to me, the APC has not really caught my attention anyways. Seems the ACR already does what the APC is advertised for and then some at a lesser price tag. To me the APC feels more of boutique rifle then my ATRS ones. Maybe my opinion will change once I try one, but I am usually a pretty good reader of these sorts of things.

Yup. I honestly said, "lets see who is coming out with a new AR."
BAM! Savage now enters the AR-15 market.

I really want to hear from the browning booth regarding the cynergy. Apparently there is one with a vortex venom on it? I would really like one. After hunting ducks for a season with the burris speed bead, I want one on an over under. I much prefer an over under, but really liked the micro reddot.

There isn't really anything new.

All the stuff that were mentioned had been reported in the last few years already.

More ARs with different decorations and different stocks just to be different. Honestly, I was bored at this show and ended up spending more time on drinking. There isn't a whole lot of any military driven stuff going on, so we see the same old stuff all the time or commercial version of what the military requested from a few years ago.

There will be a CGN IWA report this year. Let's see if the other side of the atlantic pond will be more exciting.

Most important post. Very True.

I can't see how much more innovation can come come out right now. The only area I see for need, is Night Vision thermal and lasers. Also how to make it more cost effective and less weight plus compactness. Also combining systems. Supressors also will become in more demand and this might lead to more demand for certain piston rifles in particular that handle that well. So there might be a bit off a turn back to piston ar,s.
