Hey all.

A local dealer is heading to SHOT and I am asking them to look around at decent rests. Maybe in the $600 to $700 US range.

Trying to get the SHOT show web page up but it keeps freezing on my after my first click. To look at vendors and see who might be there.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good rests?

If you can get the SHOT web page to work, recommend some booths to stop at? Gotta e-mail my booth wishlist to the local dealer.

I have a SEB and love it, I prefer the older version over the new one.

I have seen the Viper up close, no problem with that one either

Wow, Sinclair has certainly gone high tech. I am sure it will work great for you.

Did you buy the Edgewood bags to go with it? Yummmmm..

Did you discuss the feet for this rest? Extended legs?

Moving around it will not do BUT sink into the ground, that's a possibility :)

I bet you will have more into your rests when done that I have in my Savage....

you want to see something and want to see high tech, if you have never been to a Benchrest Match in the US you MUST GO. Probably the best from what I here is the Supershoot. That is basically the Shot Show of the BR world. They say there is so much shiney stuff there it makes you water. I have not gone there yet but it will be a stop on my circuit one day. You get to rub shoulders and shoot against Hall of Famers all day long.

You bet, the best of the best. I have seen many pics and drooled.

Love how we would kill for their WORST groups.

Didn't a Canadian do well this year?

Ah, another thing to add to the bucket list

You build a solid house by first building a solid foundation. This rest certainly looks like a great way to go.

The longer legs may be needed depending on your stock, how you lie behind it and the terrain you shoot from.

Depending on how tall you need to go, you may need to use larger bolts or you may experience flex.

Not sure how tall that center post is but I am sure you will find out. Best to raise the rest instead of having an overly tall central post.

You are going to have a rig that is approaching 50lbs on three pointy legs. Unless you have nice wide feet, they are going to sink into the dirt with each shot.

Some 4x4 squares of alum would certainly solve your problem

FYI, I did some checking for a friend who is an F-class shooter and interested in the new sinclair rest. The F-Class feet they offer will not fit this new rest.

http://www.sinclairintl.com/.aspx/pid=36842/Product/F_Class_Rest_Feet__3_

I spoke to the nice people at Excel Manufacturing

http://excelmanufacturingcom.homestead.com/Specialty-Products.html

The feet they make for Sinclair are threaded to accept .375 inch posts, the new Sinclair rest has 0.5 inch posts. It seems that I was the first person to point this out, he offered to modify his existing feet if my friend decided to get the Sinclair rest.

Thanx for pointing this out Roberti.

After Jerry explained I went back and looked at these and decided I'll wait and see how things look when the rest shows up.

Once I get set up with a load, I may try to make it to a shoot in BC to say I have done one. Don't know if they use a bench or shoot prone. May depend on the range.....

in EE

a new JJ rest for a good price considering shipping the fellow james is going to use his old rest for now and buy some new barrels instead of keeping the rest i think
