SHOT Show And Bench Rests

cordura bags for front rest

I have 5 cordura bags for my 5 front rests, 2 sebs 2 farleys 1 macclusky
1 jay young and so on

you can order clear stock tape and use the cordura, I do not have stock tape and shoot some wood stocks, leonard, larsen, BAT and the cordura can leave some small lines, but if you prepare your stock well, and dont ram it in the bags there is few marks,

they are covering their proverbial butt with those instructions,

most use a $6 stock tape, I dont as sometimes you cant get clear and then it looks like crap, why get a 1500$ stock to cover it up with white stock tape,

but to be safe use stock tape then you cant blame edgewood or me for the scratches

SHOULD THEY OCCUR

As a tidbit and finding out the hard way...........

Ordered the Edgewood bags that have Condura tops to them. Says in the paper work for them that the Condura will ruin the finish on a wood stock.

So now have one Protector leather bag on order.

Trial and error is expensive............

Max the Edgwood bag is by far the best, just order the teflon clear tape for but and forend from Sinclair about $7 for your wood stock

You bet, the best of the best. I have seen many pics and drooled.

Love how we would kill for their WORST groups.

Didn't a Canadian do well this year?

Ah, another thing to add to the bucket list

You really need to go shoot at Calgary, then you'd quit playing with those Savages. The Canadians are equal shooters to the Americans and their equipment is equal. Only a handful of Canadians play SR benchrest, fewer attend Supershoot and the US Nationals, if an equal number of Canadian shooters vs the same number of American shooters were in a match it would be anyones game. Americans only dominate through sheer numbers and the law of averages.....

Ah, BUT I don't shoot SR BR.

In F class, the Savage works just fine and that is what I play in.

I have ZERO doubt that Canucks can shoot with the very best in the world. Didn't a Cdn do really well at the supershoot 2010?

And I totally agree on the law of averages. If ever car was a Ford, wonder what brand would win the race?

Where I see a weakness is our ability to source of the boutique bullets. I feel Berger is about as good as we can typically get and work just fine for F class BUT they may not be ideal for SR BR (no idea but hope to find out).

Do you see bullets as an equipment issue?

I will be dambling with a 6PPC this summer so look forward for product ideas to test. The goal is to get a setup that can shoot in the 1's at 100 and 200yds in calm air.

Max, another tidbit for you. When I was buying my rest and bags I was told by the supplier (A Hall of Fame Shooter) that you shouldn't mix cordura and leather bags. They will affect your impact point by a 1/16 to 1/8. Like my shooting will notice that.

Like I said my shooting would not be proof but this was told to me by Bill Gebhart when I was buying a rest from him. Bald Eagle.
