Shot size and choke for crows?

Winchester AA Heavy Target load 12g 2 3\4" 1 1\8oz 8 shot. Drops them out to 40 yards quite easily. Corn is just getting high enough now that I can start out in the middle and blast them til im out of shells

I use a 870 with mod choke or my mossy 535 with IC.

just set the foxpro out about 15 yards away and the odd time i will have a crow decoy on a stick that I can wave out when i see a murder of crows coming from a distance. Drives them wild and if you keep well hidden they will bomb dive the caller and thats when it gets fun unloading as fast as I can. Think our best was 45 crows between 3 guys within 3 hours.

Yup! Place your Foxpro upwind about 10-15 yards and put the wind at your back. Love those "floaters" just overhead. you know where it's at D Dude;)

Old duck loads. I have 3-400 shells loaded from the old days of lead.
#5s - 1 3/8oz with 40grs of 541powder
Shoot these outa my Citori with the mod tubes. Stones 'em out to 50yds+
Sorry, no 'poofs'-:shotgun: lol

I wouldn't want to fire 75 to 100 3 1/4 inch magnum loads in a morning of crow hunting even if I could afford the expensive ammo:eek:. Much more pleasant shooting trap loads through a lightly choked shotgun. With a tight choke your just going to spend a lot of time chasing cripples around as fringe hits at normal ranges will abound...unless you can point that well...I know I can't;). We all have our own style though.

its not like i go crow hunting with a bunch of turkey loads. ive just used my extras on crows over the years. ive probably shot 30-40 crows with turkey loads for the 7 years that i have been hunting on my own.

from the age of 16-21 or so id blast off 100 rounds shooting clays nearly every weekend for 10 months of the year. it was rare for me to miss on clays and live targets so its easy using tight chokes because ive had so much practice. its been 3 years since i quit doing that because the land owner moved and now have nowhere to shoot that much. really sucks not being as good as i was, but im still not that bad. just ask the 5 geese i hammered last fall while jump shooting. unload, reload, unload, 5 birds stone dead;)
