Aw heck, why not post it again! Here are some more stats for your various shot sizes...

The most common buckshot sizes are as follows.

SSG same as OO buck.

SSG buck = .326"-.327" SAME AS OO buck. .326-.327" I JUST CUT OPEN A IVI( CIL) IMPERIAL 12 gauge SSG to be sure. its the same size as a WINCHESTER or REMINGTON OO buck. :jerkit: DON'T TAKE ANYTHING YOU READ AS FACT UNLESS YOU CHECK IT OUT YOURSELF!!!!!!

#12 is not dust

I have a Lyman 5th Edition book on my lap and it lists #12 shot at 0.050" and 2374 pellets per ounce. Dust is 0.040" and 4637 pellets per ounce. I have a .22 smoothbore gun and the #12 shot is a sweet thing for shoting vermin inside buildings. I have found the CCI shot shells good to 60 feet for head shots on pidgions or baby ground squirrels or mice. The Winchester and Federal loads are good to about 45 feet.

has anyone come up with any charts on Hevishot? The turkey hunters in the South are raving about Hevishot and Nitro ammo with blended loads, ie ; 2,5,7.
The patterns they are showing are pretty spectacular also. Apparently some states mandate steel for Turkeys due to "hunter safety". About all I have seen so far is that Hevishot is supposed to be 10% heavier than lead, ie; a #7 pellet ( not 7-1/2) is about equivalent to #5 lead.
???????

I haven't seen an SSG shot size designation since the demise of CIL/Dominion/Imperial/IVI ammo. I believe the term was British in origin as ammo manufacturers in other Commonwealth countries also used it. There is nothing about 00 Buck that makes a shotgun super, regardless of what you call it.
