shot size for partridge

I use as light a load as I can when hunting over dogs, our ruffys flush pretty close.
I don't use 12's anymore, and actually prefer the smaller gauges for partridge with as open a choke as I can get.
My 20 is cyl/imp.cyl, my 28 tubes are skt/skt, and my 410 has mod/impcyl barrels.

I use a #6 when I can but if the store doesn't have any I'll get #4 and I leave my full choke in all year round, Thighter groups at close range so I aim right on the top of the head and when the snow comes and they're higher up in the trees the full choke holds the shot together farther.

I like 3" #6 for all upland birds on the wing. I have an old double 20 that is barreled with full and modified. The full choke is reserved for the long shots.
