Hi all

We had a shooting event with a local forum at the Batoche range on the CFB of Valcartier, PQ. We had the opportunity to shoot at 300, 500 and 600y.

Most, if not all guys present all had high end, custom-made rifle, in 308, with scope as long as you can think, and all of the mildot, turret, sunshade, whatever on it. I was the only one with a milsurp, and the only one with a 100$ 3-9/50 scope...

I was not expecting anything. I told myself that as long as I could touch the target I'd be happy. At 300 I did a grouping of about 5 inches, at 500 I did +- 12 inches, and at 600 the wind played tricks, so I had about 50% of my shot in the target.

I know that those number are nothing to brag about, but for a 1943 gun with a 100$ scope, and also the facts that I had never shot more than 100m, I'm quite happy about my day.

Here are some pics. Oh, I was shooting Sierra pro-hunter bullet, 150 grains, with 45.1 grain of BLC2 powder.

Bob, je suis fier de toi en crisse!!!! :D

I'm willing to bet that a few curious folks just had to stop by and chat with you.

Good work my friend,

Lou

Sweet!! I've shot mine with open sights, out to 500. I scared the target 70% of the time. Mine is not drilled and tapped for a scope. Your rifle looks good. Did you restore it?

I'm impressed. Your rifle looks awesome up there with all the black and green ones. Good thing you "classed" the joint up a bit.

I remember firing a .303 rifle at 600 yards located at Valcartier.
No scopes though.
That was 1957-58...
Then we got the FN.
It was OK. At 1000yards at Mt. St. Bruno, I still preferred the LE.

Nice shooting. the old girl can still do a fine job for you.

Hey, thanks for the comment !!

And yes, there was a lot of those guys asking about the gun. I proudly told them it was 68 years old.....

Good shooting and when participating in DCRA many years ago long range shooting was the most fun. We used Parker Hale 5C peep sights and believe me once you got to 600 yards it was a real challenge.

Great looking rifle and usually the worse the weather, especially rain, the better the Lee Enfield will show against other rifles.

You had yourself an F Class match! Was it organized or acknowledged by the PQRA? The target shooters have lots to offer to casual shooters who want to take their game up a level.

Good for you. Probably makes all them black n green weekend warriors wonder what the hell they been spending all their money on? :slap:

Nice shooting Bob,

Make sure to check ATPQ/PQRA website as we are, starting this year, incorporating a new shooting event for military rifles.

We are also offering an opportunity to start shooting at "long range" through purchase of a "Passeport Competition" at a lesser cost than full fledge membership.

Check website and contact me if you need further info.

looking forward to count you in coming matches.
