Shot the new Ruger Hawkeye 30-06

Really guys, I'm just being a wimp. I've had a decelerator on a .300 in the past, and it was great. But the kick comes from shooting off the bench. I don't do that much anymore. It's sighted in now. Most shooting will be done off my butt or offhand at the range now. I'll just toughen up with this one when I do put it on the bags. Thanks though.

Get a good recoil pad and don't look back!!!!
Or if ya can't handle the heat stay outta the kitchen!!!:D

nope, day off tommorow...gonna go to the range and put some rounds through my 30-06. good thing it has a decelerator! :D

I put a Pachmayer on my .35 Whelen and I've just had one installed on my Ruger No.1 Tropical in .375 H&H. BIG difference on the H&H. It's hard enough to shoot a gun like that from the bench. I'm a big believer in the recoil pads.

150 Sciroccos sucked today. Actually lately my 30-06 has been puking everything...:( maybe I should clean it. To stay on topic, my shoulder feels great, I love decelerators :D

Just got back from a trip into the city. Got hooked up with some Nosler 168 grain Balistic tips and H4831 as well as some new brass. She better shoot tomorrow. So fgar its throwing the first shot 2" high and the second and third are touching.

I have to say, I really am turning into a wuss. She pounded pretty good, but it was fun. After I got the windage lined up, I settled in and put three Winchester softpoints into a little over an inch. It heated up good after three shots, but it was warm today too. The muzzle didn't really jump, even though I only had it resting on foam. The rifle recoiled nice and straight back. The pad is a hockey puck. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. It would have felt better had it been wider. The way it is now, it tends to dig in, but it isn't painful, really. All in all, she should prove to be a hunting rifle, and not a bench rifle. But I think it will be very good at it.

Sounds like you need to stick to being a gopher hunter....
