Is it ok to shoot shot through a rifled 12 ga. barrel, and vice versa.....

slugs through a smooth bore shot barrel?

I'm sure a slug will perform better from the rifled barrel..but I am talking wear, tear and safety here.

Thanks.

Shot in a rifled barrel is not a good idea.... for many reasons, excessive fouling of the rifling is one... and your patterns will be garbage due to the centrifugal force.

The rifling will impart a lot of spin on the shotcup producing poor patterns, rifling will build up alot of leading and plastic from wads.....not a good idea!
