Well I finally got out to the range and shot a real round of trap. My only other experience has been hand-thrown clays. All in all I did pretty well with a 21 and 23. I'm fairly sure I can improve on those with a bit more practice. The 4th and 5th stations were the hardest for me, I think I need to adjust me stance a bit towards to house.
All this was with my Ithica model 500 O/U. It's obviously a field gun and has about a 60/40 pattern but it was doing alright. Makes me want to find a BT-99 though.
Only really low point of the night was my fore-end cracked down the center. I'm now going to try and get it fixed or get a replacement.
I think I will definately go out and give it another try in the near future.
Cheers,
Grant

Grantmac,
Good shooting! Glad you are going to give it another try! As far as stance, I would not want to advise without watching your present stance. As a rule post 4 and 5 are the most difficult for a right hander. One thing to keep in mind is that the hardest left from a regulation trap is a straight from post 5. The hardest right is a straight from post one. Since you are hitting most, I would stick with your 500 and before you make a purchase I would try a few different trap guns that I am sure the regulars will let you try.

Yeah one of the guys said he's got a BT for sale that I could have a try with to see if it will work for me. I like my SKB, but it definately hits like a field gun. That said I don't think I'd have the money or time to get really serious with the sport, so perhaps I will just build-up a temporary higher comb and add a little weight to my SKB.
Cheers,
Grant
