Don't know how to starte this, have been hunting real hard for 3 days solid , last two a hunting partner that could barley walk tries keeping up. We are blocked on the south and west side by hunters . Were hunting aprox 240 acres the two of us. On Thursday and Friday we have Yotes running the property.on Saturday nothing all morning so we go for lunch and make plans to finish Where we started. We head back and again were blocked on the north end but the hunters on the west give up. The deer don't usually move from the east on this piece till night. So I decide to pull a sneak through the property. I can hear deer moving in bush ahead and just to the east and speed up my pace to catch them in the opening. I catch them but am late there tails are in the air and the bouncing to my buds direction . As I come to the clearing a doe and buck pop up in a safe direction completly opposite of bud with a good backdrop hill. I take a shot at the doe then two at the buck. It does a high kick and takes off after the doe. I radio bud and tell him I hit a buck but don't know about the doe. He tells me then that as he walking to me that there are hunters sweeping our private property and there not wearing hunter orange. He said a few were in his direction and he saw the deer run toward him then noticed the hunters.it's getting dark fast and we unload the guns and put in the cases . We go to the truck to let the deer settle and get flash lights. and I get a sick feeling of the thought I could of hit someone with a pass through on the deer. I did not know these guys were lined in our property .We see a pick up truck go through the field at unbeleivable speed and hear a shot . It's completly dark . We try to see what's going on and this truck does a quick round throgh the field and pics up it's guys, he's driving with no lights.we quickly go to the spot I shot the deer and follow a blood trail but no deer just truck track with lots of boot prints. I know they took the deer but what made me more mad was the thought uncoils have killed one of these jokers. I'm shooting the hornady slugs with a riffled barrel and I beleive it's too much range for the acreage we hunt. I'll tell you I was sick to
my stomach at the though that one of the jokers coud either be behind the deer in the bush or they could have shot at me as the last shot came in our direction. I'm still
shaking as I wright this. I even put my shotgun up
for sale andaybe consentrate on bow season rather than gun
season .

Just spaced it out to make it easier to read. This honestly sucks though dogger and i wish you hadn't had to go through that kinda sh*t! People should know better. Good luck next time man.

Have a few sleeps before you do anything. Don't let those slobs ruin things for you. I know it sucks hunting in areas full of bone headed weekend warriors that swarm the woods at this time.

If they are trespassing they need to be charged. If they are hunting in the dark they need to be strung up. By the sound of your story you were not doing anything wrong. Your shot description said you were clear and had a back stop.

If you are giving up the gun season to hunt more peacefully with the bow then that may not be a bad thing. I really hunt hard with my bow and muzzle loader in order to avoid the crowds. With luck a fellow can have fill his tags before gun season if not then I do go out a bit during the rifle season.

Again get a few sleeps under your belt before you do anything you'll think a lot straighter in a few days.

Yah I'll try the sleep thing , last night was cold swets, yes they were tresspassing and not wearing hunter orange as stated during gun , I've talked it over with the wife and decided not sell the benelli as it's really sweet the way it's set up. Thanks for making it easier to read my mind was just racing.I'll go out at muzzle loader and will call the co's if I see them again. Might try a tree stand instead of stalking them. Hopefully they don't shoot at orange up a tree, I'm going to be head to toe orange for muzzle loader if I get the nerve

Take your gun off the market and as the other fellas said sleep on it. Dad always said " Head up shoulders back dont let it get to ya" you know in your heart you did nothin wronge . But it is still scary at times when the ass wipes are out.
Give it some time.
Best regards

It amazes me how desperate people are to get a deer. If I needed meat that bad, I'd go to the market. They probably don't even eat it.

Man, where do you people hunt that this is not unusual? There is this thread, the one where asshats were cutting fences and driving in no hunting, no vehicle areas and then the one with the crazy vac truck driver scaring away elk and probably some others I haven't seen.

Wherever it is, I don't want to ever go there to hunt. If I had to deal with that just to hunt, I never would have started in the first place.

OP, definitely don't sell your stuff. You were not in the wrong and any blame lies with the meatheads. Take a day or two to cool off and see if things don't look more reasonable then.

Exactly how would you report that though.
Someone stole my deer.
"was your tag on it ?"
No, they took it before I could tag it.
"was it dead?"
dunno
"Did you see them take it?"
no
"Did it maybe just run away"
No
"Do you know who they were?"
No
"Could you discribe them ?"
yep Hunter camo, Pick up truck and Rifles
"Would you like to go home and wait for a Ransom Demand?"

Don't sweat it, they we're some liberal hippies and the deer is probably at the Vetinarian right now.

That really sucks, but don't let it get to you. They were clearly in the wrong in so many ways. It would be a bad day for anyone to shoot somebody by accident while hunting, but those guys have some baaad juju coming to them, and when karma catches up to them, it will be no fault of anybody but themselves...

Keep hunting dogger1 and stop worrying about a$$holes who don't give a damn about you, safety, or the laws that you diligently uphold.

Despite previous comments - if this happened in Ontario get on the phone NOW and call

1-877-TIPS-MNR (847-7667) - toll free 24/7/365

Even if you cant identify the individuals, there is enough information for the MNR to follow up with in future years and /or previous complaints that you may not know about. If they get lucky and find out who it is they at least have trespass to hunt and hunter orange violations they can deal with.

Sorry that it ruined your hunt

This is why I severly limit the number of hunters I allow on my land, and why I won't go back to Hudson Bay or Cabri. WAY too many poachers and morons kicking around.

Am I the only one who wouldn't lose sleep in that situation?

I mean, you didn't everything in your power to ensure a safe shot.

If they wanted to trespass, not wear the safety orange so they can be seen, that's their own fault

Sounds to me like they'd be the ones to hand back a half box of nails because they ran out of "right handed" nails
