shot vs unshot

At this point I don't know if shooting it would make too much of a difference, provided you dont burn the barrel out and remember to clean and maintain it. In the future though,, maybe 20 or 40 years from now when SKS' will likley be more valuable, one with a worn or shot out barell will be appropriatly devalued.

If you're really concerned, put away a nice still in the cosmoline example and buy a cheap norinco to shoot the #### out of.

After the first bullet leaves the barrel your Rifle is no longer "Unshot".

Unless you have an East German SKS or a Russian honour Guard rifle...don't worry about collecting.:D

The answer is....42 :D Seriously, your rifle will be the same value (at this point in time, at least) whether it's been fired or not. Especially if it's a chicom model. Like Skippy said though, make sure you clean the damn thing, especially if you shoot corrosive milsurp ammo through it. If it rusts, THEN it'll be worth less, a lot less, because nobody wants to buy a rusty gun :p

any rifle is worthless if you don't shoot it.come on,its an sks for gods sake!
you're supposed to shoot the barrel out,and feel good about it to.everything i own is a shooter, and if it doesn't shoot well,i get rid of it.we're not talking about a particular rifle in the hands of a famous person who was in a famous battle here.

It's just another Chicom SKS, there are probably millions of them floating around the world. As well, considering they are only $160 right now, you will probably be long dead by the time it achieves any sgnificant value. Now go out and shoot the damn thing.

You'll probably get more enjoyment out of shooting it than holding on to it and speculating about it's appreciation in value over the next 20-40 yrs. By the time it's gains any real value (say because the UN does succeed in obliterating all firearms from civilians) you'll probably be too old to do anything or dead. Go shoot it because it's not the kind of item that will make you rich and change your life. Life is short - go shoot (or anything else you like to do).
