Any downside to using #12 shot ammo from Winchester in a Ruger 10/22, or any other rifled barrel? Thanks for the input.

I've read that the patterns will be poor and strung out....haven't tried it myself so take it for what it's worth.

Patterns will look like a donut with too much hole.

Try some and see if they are gonna do what you want them to.

Pattern them on clean white paper. It'll be educational!

Supposedly they work pretty well out to several dozen yards out of a smoothbore.

All the ones I shot have not done any damage except made me broker and better educated.

won't damage the barrel but most guns have trouble cycling them cause the crimped casing sticks in the chamber.

buy the CCI ones if you can find them with the blue plastic shot cups they pattern better as the shot is a bit more protected from the rifling
