And just to be totally crystal-mud clear...if you cut a shotgun down to prohib size then notify the CFC of the change what happens?
You now own a prohib so does this make you eligible for a 12.whatever liscence?

Nope, you get a letter stating that the gun in question be turned over to the gestapo for destruction. I'm not sure if any sanctions will be applied to you, your license or your gun collection afterwards or not.

to measure shotgun barrel length, what's the procedure?
for a single shot like your survival shorgun, open the action, hook a tape on the back of the barrel, measure to the muzzle right?
I've heard it's different for a pump though, from the front face of the reciever with the barrel installed to the muzzle?

Measure inside the barrel until you hit the bolt face is what I've heard the CFC uses.
