I prefer mu 870 with 28" bbl. Its the best compromise between handling convenience and ease/fluidity of the swing. I also have a 26" bbl. Shooting at moving ducks, the 28 was much more fluid for me. The shorter bbl made for quicker and more "choppy" movements. My accuracy was better with the longer barrel. At the same time, I prefer a 26" or even 24" bbl when I'm bunny hunting or grouse hunting. Much more convenient in the alder beds and tuckamores. The pump action 870 is again my first choice. It goes bang every time and you can get a second shot off quicker than a semi-auto, plus they're less maintenance-intensive. That's why the 11-87 stays on the rack and the 870 heads into the field!
