Hi all
I was extensively cleaning my recently purchased Geha (Mauser conversion) 12 guage bolt action shotgun with Wipeout bore cleaner, and I noticed that the runoff and the patches from the bore were dark red....freaked me out, I thought I had cut myself and was bleeding...I am guessing that this is residue from the hulls of plastic shotgun shells????

How new is the Gun? Could it have been some sort of grease used in shipping ? It may also just be the Bore cleaner reacting with the grime in the barrel.

If it ran clean after a few passes then It was most likley just some old oil or grease in the barrel.

She's an old 1918 Spandau G 88 that was converted to a 2 shot bolt action 12 guage after WW1...been fired many times, and I thought I had cleaned it extensively before I took it to the range.
