I am going to buy either a Browning 625 or a Beretta 687, do either one of these guns come with hard cases? They seem very expensive not to come with a case.

The 687 will come in a compact moulded case....the bottom of the case isn't felt lined but the case is nice nevertheless.

The Browning won't.....the 725 field model I had inspected some months ago they took out of a cardboard box.

May not be entirely out of place to mention that gun fit will need to take precedence as far as either brand is concerned....aftermarket fitted cases are abundant.

This is my first shotgun purchaseand I want to be sure of what to expect. By fit do you mean shouldering the gun or the case it self?

Thanks

He is refering to the gun fitting the shooter.the front sight on a shotgun is the bead the rear sight is your eye .for the gun to fit properly and to have it shoot where you are looking the front bead must aline with your eye when you shoulder the gun with out adjusting your head on the stock to get the proper sight picture.

LOL! Good question! I should've been a bit more explicit. Yes, that would absolutely mean shouldering the firearm. :)

Judging by your handle, I take it that you may be a member of Galt and planning the purchase to shoot clays (and perhaps even hunt with) which is all the more reason to ensure that the shotgun of choice must be a good fit.

Thanks for the heads up guys, local gun shop has a great sale this week and I'm trying to make the best decision possible. I am 100% interested in shooting clays.

Would be best if you are able to approach the guys at the club (whichever that may be) and ask to handle both brands.....most will gladly offer the opportunity to do such when approached right.

As mentioned in one of the posts above, it would be a great assist to be able to understand the basics of shotgun fit prior to walking into a gunshop. The guys at the club can help there as well. Good luck with your purchase.

Beretta's come with their plastic blue case. Browning comes with a stylish cardboard box with a buckmark on it. I don't know why browning doesn't supply a case. They are roughly the same price between comparable models and browning wants you to pay $200 for there case on top of the 2k plus you just shelled out

I ended up getting a Beretta and will make due with the blue case, at least it makes the entire package neat for transport. I did look around a bit a saw a few nice after market padded hard cases on the net.

FWIW I picked up a Browning presentation case to cart my trap gun too and from the club. It took some modification to get it to fit, but I really like it
