Shotgun choice problems???

Hello,

I am looking for some good advice on what to buy for a shotgun. I was tossing up between the Wetherby SA08 and the Benelli Supernova, but the new Remington 887 is nice.
I would like to keep my budget under $500 if possible but am willing to go up to $700 if need be.
I will be using the shotgun for bird hunting this fall season so I need to make a decision quick.
Hopefully there is some good advice on what is good and what is bad out there.
 
I don't know anything about the wetherby but the super nova and the 887 are good choices. I almost bought a nova until I picked up a browning BPS it's awsome, a little heavy but it swings nice and is as solid as they come.

If you are hunting only upland try for a shotgun that is relatively light and lively and most important fits you well. Pumps are a good choice and if you are looking at a keeper then the 870 wingmaster is the way to go and would fit your budget. My friend has a Nova but in 3.5 inch and it is far too heavy for upland and he replaced it with a SBEII .

These are all good guns -- you will get lots of input from guys about their favourites. Again these are all good guns --- go to ashop that carries them and try eachone -- throw it to the shoulder to see how it fits/feels and buy the one that feels best within your budget. the "fit" for shotguns is nmuch more critical than rifles. a shotgun has to come to the shoulder quickly and shoot wher you look.

Then something like a Youth model with shorter stock may fit you to a "T". Unless you have barn-door shoulders and a giraffe neck as well.
 
If you've got short arms, a pump gun may cause you some difficulty. Imagine you're goose hunting. Lay down with the gun across your legs, now sit up and point the gun skyward, fire, and now try to pump with the gun pointed up. I went to a Mossberg 930 for just that reason and my kills jumped dramatically. I only had that problem laying in fields for birds, not in the marsh where I can stand up and better adjust my balance.
