Ontario has hosted IPSC provincial championships for three years now.
There were intermittent matches at Silverdale in 2015 which will become a more regular occurrence in 2016 (likely monthly)
and there are a number of non IPSC shotgun action matches that take place.
2016 will see quite a few shotgun only matches in Ontario.
Hopefully the rest of Canada can pick up the pace a bit and catch up.

If you intend to compete in IPSC, you'll need to take the black badge course.
For non IPSC matches, its up to the guys running the match as to what "qualifications" they wish their competitors to hold.
It varies.
Keep an eye out for match listings and contact the organizers to see what you might need.
