What was the intended purpose of the manufacture of these type AR style shotguns? I can't imagine them being useful in wingshooting and the clays games.
3 gun shooting and fun.
Would work well for turkey or deer hunting, too. I haven't tried one on clays yet as I don't shoot clays much anymore, but I'm sure it would be fun, especially using a sight like the Eotech or similar. I might take one bear hunting this spring, using Challenger slugs. I've used foster style and Brenneke slugs on game, but not the Challengers yet, and they look pretty good. Easy to make 100 yard kill zone hits with a slug with one of these shotguns, too.
A few people at our club tried skeet with various holographic sights, and the result was failure after failure.
It can be done with some degree of success. I mounted a Bushnell Holosite on my Beretta and had some success on skeet crossers or otherwise predictable targets. Less success with trap or sporting clays. IIRC, optical sights are however banned for competition.A few people at our club tried skeet with various holographic sights, and the result was failure after failure.
There are also many success stories. Plenty of them just a google search away, like thst video I posted.
If an AR style shotgun with an Eotech was ideal for clays, I'm sure we would see top shooters using them, but they are not. Doesn't mean a person can't use one with enough success to make it fun though.

And the most successful clays shooters are focusing on the target, not on a bead or a dot.
Lots of "red dot" sights (like the Eotech) have a dot in the middle and a ring around it. The ring works well for using shot. Some that are designed just for shot are only a ring, like this one.
If you're going to shoot clay targets in a field with a hand thrower use whatever you want however if you plan to visit a club you'd best stick with your 870.
Clubs may not permit "combat style" shotguns or have barrel length requirements (usually 26") and the Derya would fail on both counts. Even if the clubs allow it you may be the subject of some ridicule.

There's a reason the Marines went with a traditional tube for their tac shotgun. The geometry of shotshells mean that reliability is always going to be an issue in a mag fed platform. The mag fed guns tend to be heavy, swing poorly, and feed unreliably (especially when they get dirty). I've shot the Derya a couple time and it ran ok, but in no way would I trust it to be my go to do everything firearm. Buy an M2, or keep the 870 and a get a spare barrel. If you really want a derya keep your expectations low and leave the it at the gravel pit.
As an aside, I'm a very average shot and I've been able to shoot 3-4 inch groups at 200m with sabot slugs in a rifled cantilever 870. It's definitely a viable close range hunting platform for big game.
And the only people using them are either paid to use them, or simply don't know any better.
Some ridicule.. &$% that. What is this high school?
.

It's not unique to clay shooting. Show up at an IPSC shoot with a Luger or a 3-gun match with a Krieghoff K80 and you'll be the subject of ridicule from some shooters and your guns may not be allowed.Oh BOO HOO!! You don't like my gun becuase it's not traditonal? poor you. People that resort to ridiculing another gun owner who just wants to have some fun shooting at clays with whatever shotgun they want to try are pretty pitiful.
