My friend bought a shotgun for $0.46 from a guy that was moving to another country. After a couple of years of not touching it he mentioned to me that he had it. I went to his place and looked at it. It's a Stevens 77B in pretty good shape all things considered. A little bit of surface rust. The action is mildly cruddy. Anyway I told him I would take it home and clean it. I could get the trigger housing screw out. But the pin won't budge. I'm guessing that it needs to be drifted out but wanted to get confirmation. Also are there any other tricks when it comes to disassembly?

Yes, of course after recieving the firearm in question, I'll spend another dollar, to get the the schematic in an email, and use this to pull it apart, and put it back together.

Good luck.

If there is surface rust there maybe some internal rust too. If you can get the stock off, you might try soaking the receiver in Var-sol or Kerosene to loosen things up. Hope this helps.

Buttstock is off. Magazine tube is off. I can get the screw for the trigger out but the pin doesn't move. There is no rust inside. The worst are the little black grungies.

Does anyone know for sure if that pin comes out? That's pretty much all I'm looking for.

Schematic drawings are for those who don't know what they are doing. That would be You! Pay the buck and get the schematic.

Getting it apart is easy take the butt stock of then unscrew the trigger guard screw this will relieve pressure then drive the pin out left to right sometimes you have to use force there will be springs every were very poor deign that was the easy part good luck getting together .

My dad and I discovered that the pin was mushroomed, and needed to be drilled out. It wasn't that a larger drift or harder hit was needed. It was just built crappily.
