Shotgun fit .... It needs to fit?

Sometimes it doesn't pay to get too technical, if you shoot the gun fine then leave it alone!

I agree. A few shots on low 7 tell you a lot.

I patterned it after buying it, but that's no way to get a precise idea, not when you're talking about hundreds of hundreds of little holes. I remember posting a video from a bespoke English gunmaker who adjusts and proves barrel alignment by shooting slugs, I did it to my satisfaction with a light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation device.
 
Pattern board at 16 yards, fire 10 shells through your tightest choke. This will give you a very good idea of where the barrel prints.

Do it once as slow deliberate fire off a rest (no fun, even with light target loads). This will show if the barrel patterns where the “sights” are aimed.

Do it again with your your usual mount, point, shoot. No squirming around to get it “right.” This will show you if the barrel prints where your eye is looking.
