Shotgun for hunting with slugs, and possible clays as well.

So went to the local gun shop, they have the Mossberg 535 combo with two barrels, rifled cantlever mount, and a 28"? For $650, but he said he'd buy the Remington express combo for 675? Same barrel combo, Remington doesn't have ability to mount scope, and can only do 3" shells, Mossberg can do 3.5" shells. He also said Mossberg warranty sucks out here, and can take up to 8 months to get anything done.

There is a cabeleas and wholesale sports up island like 1.5h drive, could maybe get these cheaper.

What's the general consensus here?

Which one felt better to you? 3.5" shells are not needed and in a light pump action can be rather unpleasent in terms of recoil, in my opinion. I have a preference towards remington shotguns, mostly because of how well they fit me. I've seen the express combos for less than 650 before taxes, so calling cabelas and wholesale before making the trip may be worth while. You can always pick up a mossberg or remington pump with a field barrel and buy the extra barrel that suits your needs best aftemarket.

I didn't feel either of them yet. He didn't offer and I was in a bit of a rush. Will next time.
