So today I just got a new 14" Hatsan Marine in the mail.

The site i bought it from, all all other sources I can find say its a 5+1.

But with mine even with the mag block removed I can only get 4+1, 5th one stops with just short of getting in.

2 3/4 shells nothing fancy. I CAN get a 5th in the tube if I push it REAL hard to get it in there, but there is not even a mm left of room in the tube which is concerning. The spring is fully compressed and the shell is right up agents the metal stop that hold the shells in.

The follower seems to be a weird one with like a 1cm part that pokes out from it, I'm sure if I were to replace it I could get the 5th in comfortably but for the life of me I can see a way to get the spring and follower out of the tube. It's crimped in on the end.

Any advice?

There should be a way to remove the spring and follower. Is there a retainer piece that can be pushed down and rotated to clear the crimped end?
Once you get it out you could modify the follower or get a no jamb type from BadBoyBeeson

There is not. How the factory seems they did it is put on the tube and permanently attached it to the receiver, installed the follower and spring and a little washer, then squished/crimped the end to keep everything in. Because of the crimp the washer has a larger diameter then the crimped hole so it cant come out.

Bummer.
I guess unthreading from the receiver is your only option.... perhaps a bit of heat in case they used lockthread, and see if you can turn it free with a strap wrench and padded vice.

Ok, so maybe mine is not defective, just super tight and needs to be worked in. Thanks.

The 5th shell will fit with only a slight gap between it and the shell stopper. This is ammo dependent too.

For instance, these are ALL listed as 2 3/4 shells...;)
