Shotgun Match, Woodstock Ontario

Just a friendly reminder. If your shooting this match and silverdale match, give yourself enough time to get from range to range. Some of you have double booked and time wise it could be tight.

Morning squad starts at 9. I would hope done by 12 at the latest. It's ten man squads 5 stages. Really the speed depends on the shooters. If everyone helps reset and we don't have any major hiccups, I would hope that it would take a little more than 2 hours to run a squad through. Mantis I'll set the order so you shoot the last stage first to get you out a little quicker.

Awesome. thanks.

This will be my first match and I could use some input. I'll be shooting a 20 ga with a modified choke but what size of birdshot would be best suited for this match?

I'm no expert for sure and distance plays a role in the shot decision but I use a 12 ga and 7 or 7-1/2 shot. With the smaller amount of shot in your shells, I'm going to guess that you would go for the higher end of the range. You might also compensate with a broader choke to get a wider spread of the available shot. I'll be interested in what others think too.

Thanks to Matt and Dave and the others who set this up - it was more fun that is allowed by law.

Lots of shot downrange - a really good time. We are looking forward to seeing how it is done on Sunday. Plenty of challenge in the reactive targets!

Such a lovely facility too, out there near Woodstock!

Really looking forward to this match! Like usual I told myself I would practice my shotgun reloading the week prior to the match and like usual, I haven't done a damn thing! Regardless I'm pretty stoked - haven't shot a shotgun only match since the TH one last summer so I'm itching for some good ol' scattergun fun.

well...it pays to double check the slug POIs as I learned today....still a good time though.

Thanks to the Oxford Crew for a great match
