shotgun not locking up

i have a stevens model 77 that with an action that just wont lock up, i posted in the shotgun area and didnt get any response and then i noticed that there is a gunsmithing section so any idea as to what is wrong? thanks

Have you taken it appart to see if all the parts are there, in the right order, and in good condition ?

yes i have had it apart several times each a couple days apart for a fresh view.

It's pretty hard to diagnose over the interweb, you might want to take it or send it to a reputable gunsmith. Parts for these shotguns are getting hard to find.

well i got it this morning, it practically came to me in a dream. Where the slide release connects to the dealy that locks the slide up, it wasnt connected it must have came apart when i was reassembling it and i must have missed it

Centrefire, Rimfire & Shotgun ... can save you a lot of headaches !
