I tried to do a search in the black powder section but came up with no results so thought some one here might be able to answer this question. My inline muzzle loader uses 209 primers for ignition. I am out of 209 primers right now but have a bunch of CCI 157 primers that I will never use as I don't reload shotgun shells anymore. Can I use the 157 primers in place of the 209s.

B: The 157s where a old size shotshell primer, sometimes called a remington 57. If memory serves me correct they are a little smaller then the 209s. So they may not fit or stay in your breachplug very well. The bigger problem would be their strength after all these years, they are about 30-40 yrs old.You may not get the same ballistics out of them, which would mean you would set up for them and then during hunting season be shooting something different.,My thoughts
