My 870 12ga eats NCStar red dots for breakfast, but I can't justify the cost of a Trijicon or Aimpoint for a shotgun. Is there a solution for me that won't break the bank?

I'm running a Mesa Tactical integrated rail/shell-holder.

Hello:

You may want to look around for a used Bushnell Holosight (they are discontinued). I believe that it would work for your intended purpose.

Chizzy

Looks like you already spent alot of money on quality equipment for your gun why go cheap on the optic. How much money did all the broken optics cost you, that could have covered some or most of the cost of a quality unit.

You seem to personify the rule: buy quality once.
Get a 'previously enjoyed' Aimpoint H-1 for $500 or so and never look back.
Thanks for sharing your experience...it completely justifies my philosophy of buying the best quality whatever...pistol, shotgun, rifle, scope, binoculars, etc., that I can afford.

ive got an replica RMR i got off eVILbay for 45$ shipped, it has the basic shape of a rmr and includes a weaver mount, has "docter optics" and a owl on the side
works great on a very sunny day, as good as some +600$ red dots
has held centre for about 400rounds of 12ga trap and 50 3" slugs

only issue i had with it is the battery didnt make full contact on the + contact when screwed down, so i soldered on a 28gauge wire and it works perfect now

ive gotta use it more but it gets me 1 more broken clay /25 over open sights 4% increase in target aquasition is worth every penny, can shoot with both eyes open too

nc-star wont handle a airsoft gun let alone a shotgun

I bought a paintball gun that came with a
ncstar hologhraphic doodad which is a piece of crap and a ncstar laser which I tossed on my glock 20 for trigger practice, it's been through at least 350-500 hot loads and is still absolutely pefectly zeroed and functions flawlessly. I'm sure it's days are numbered tthough.

I see Burris is advertising the "Speedbead", mounts between receiver and stock. Anyone have any experience with these? They look light and small.

And... EXPENSIVE.

I use a $40 Tasco red dot and it's handled everything from bird shot to slugs, no problems thus far. If anything, the screws loosened (crap thumbscrews). I replaced them with actual nuts and dropped some Locktite on them.

Burris

Have one on my 870 on top of a Knights Armament rail.........slugs and 00 no problems at all. bought mine new from P&D for $200 a few years back.

Bushnell Hollo sight works but again they crapped out on me on a turkey hunt up at Rock Creek just outside of Oyssoos. 2 batteries to my head & the turkey was dead. The new EoTech hasn't let me down yet & the best thing is the circle then the aiming dot works out great for pattering and ranging your birds. Just wish I never sold my first gen Bushnell Holosight that was made in the good old USA. It held up to my Desert Eagle .50AE and never had 1 problem.

Ive got a JPoint on mine:
