shotgun reloading

I load slugs and the best in 12 gauge IMHO are Remington STS, and Federal Gold Medal. The red Win AA HS are ok, but not as good as original one piece AA, don't like the grey ones. Not crazy about Gun Club.

What is it you don't like about the rem. gun club's?
They are also one piece injection moulded hulls. Don't see much difference between them and STS.

To me, they seem less robust than the STS or the FGM and seem to become more brittle when fired a few times. It may be the slugs though so ymmv. They work though and I suppose I would use them if they were all I had.

Thanks for the info 3macs1.

I just checked my red base wad hulls . . . they are "unstamped," as you say. I got them a few years ago from an older gent at our club, he gave me several hundred once fired AA compression formed hulls. Before I reloaded any of them, I checked them for foreign matter and that's when I noticed some of them (about 150) had the separate red base wad. I guess I've been lucky, I've reloaded them 6 times with no issues. No sense pressing my luck though, I'll ditch them now.

I just found this which is what we were told at that time years ago
Winchester hulls without HS stamped in the brass should be considered to be the first design old-style base wad
They were the ones that can come come loose and obstruct the barrel
I think we are on the same page and i would ditch them also
Cheers
